An Introductory Group (Intro Group) is usually offered at AROSC track events in order to provide people with a taste of what it's like to drive on a race track even though they don't have fully track-ready cars. There are still safety considerations and the car still needs to pass a tech inspection, but, because the speeds are kept down to highway speeds, the requirements are minimal; a normal street car in safe operating condition is usually sufficient. Drivers are required to ware helmuts, eye protection (sun glasses are OK), and natural fiber clothing, including gloves (garden gloves are usually acceptable).
Intro group includes a classroom session on Saturday and again on Sunday, each of which is followed by a lead-follow session on the track. In the classroom you will learn the essentials of safe and effective track driving. One of the instructors will do the leading in the track sessions. This is an excellent way to "see what it's like" on the track without having to committ to major safety equipment purchases. Additional information on Intro Group at our Track Events can be downloaded.
The next AROSC Intro Group session will be held at Willow Springs International Raceway on October 11 & 12, 2008. Details will be posted when they become available. If you have any questions about our track events, please contact one of the Competition Board members.
